Hola.

Welcome to my blog

Ramadan Kareem

Ramadan Kareem

Hey hey,

Sorry I haven't posted in a while, things have kinda slowed down. I'm back in Nigeria and I guess I'm still settling in and trying to figure out what to do with my life. I also haven't really done anything interesting lately, so I haven't been feeling very 'inspired'. I promise to do better :D. By the way Ramadan Kareem to all my Muslim brothers and sisters out there - shoutouttttt (super late, I know lol). I hope you're all having a successful month and all your prayers are answered.

For those who don't know, Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic calendar. Muslims all over the world fast from sunrise to sunset. We're not allowed to eat or drink during daylight hours... Yes, not even water.

In Nigeria, we fast from about 4:45am until about 6:45pm, give or take a few minutes. I haven't been home during Ramadan for a few years and there have been things I've missed (like all the yummy food at iftar, and eating and praying with fam every evening) but also things I haven't missed (like being told what to do, being watched and feeling like all I'm being judged all the damn time).

One of the nice things about Ramadan is that every night you get to sit down and share a meal with your family and/or friends. And I have been doing the mosttt, especially with my experimental plantain dishes lol. Here are a few of my faves (things I actually remembered to take pictures of) from the first half of Ramadan.

Btw, I don't measure when I cook.. so I haven't included any recipes soz.

1. Plantain cups with avocado and prawns

2. Plantain lasagne

3. Plantain balls stuffed with cheese

4. Tagliatelle with prawns and cherry tomatoes

Am I obsessed with plantain? Yes, yes I am.

(Excuse my pasta picture, forgot to take one, so had to screenshot a video lol)

Enjoy the rest of this holy month!

Besos x

Love, Mira
